Mystical Wonders of Earth: Lake Hillier

Mystical Wonders of Earth: Lake Hillier

Ava Bartley

Do you really like the color pink? Don’t you just wish you could paint the whole world pink? That seems like a bit much. What about something smaller? Like a lake?

Lake Hillier is a lake contained with salt off the Australian west coast. Although safe, normal tourists aren’t allowed to swim in it. The reason for its pinkness being, sort of like flamingos, is a mixing of algae and colorful bacteria. Unfortunately, it has lost its color from the salt extraction, evaporation, etc., and now turned to a green hue. However, that may return with conditions changing.
