When I wake up I wonder

What came in my dream

Something that came before the thunder

Something that strikes before you scream.

Something that haunts the night.

Something that gives you a fright.

Something that never seems to stop.

Until it  makes you drop.

What it is, is a mystery.

But it has a long history.

The monster that is in  your head.

And it doesn’t stop until you’re dead.

–

This is not a dream, but a nightmare.

That even gives a grown man a scare. 

The monsters want you to struggle and fight.

But their not real, it’s all in your mind

You won’t really perish, right?
