Movies That Need a Sequel – Part 2
January 24, 2022
Back when I was in 6th grade, I wrote an article called Movies That Should Have A Sequel. By this point, the movies mentioned in that article either have confirmed-to-be-released sequels, or the sequel has already been released. In this article, I am going to cover not only new movies that need a sequel right now necessarily, but also the movies from the previous article that actually got a sequel along with movies that should NEVER have a sequel. Please note that there are multiple spoilers for multiple movies. Anyways, enjoy!
Movies That Need a Sequel
1. Harry Potter Saga
Before you ask what I mean by the saga needing a sequel, I am specifically talking about a movie version of The Cursed Child. I have been hoping this would come out for YEARS. This would be a cool way to see what really happens with Harry and everyone else after The Deathly Hallows.
2. The Simpsons Movie (2007)
I know this one was made a long time ago, but this movie DESERVES a sequel. This movie is absolutely perfect in every way. Since season 50 is a long way away from now, it would not be a bad idea for another movie to be made about the series. Just let that sink in.
3. Detective Pikachu (2019)
Is this coming from a long-time fan of the Pokemon franchise? Yes. Is this my opinion for a sequel? Absolutely yes. If a sequel for this comes out in the near future, who knows what could be expected in it! I guess we will just have to wait and see. That is, however, if a sequel is made.
Movies That DO NOT Need a Sequel
1. No Time To Die (007) (2021)
This has to be the best James Bond movie of all time. The movie starts off with intense action and does not slow down. The movie keeps a strong pace the whole time, and it is FILLED with action. Spoiler alert, Bond dies at the end. If they continued this film saga, they would most likely give the title 007 to the person who had that title while Bond was enjoying retirement. The films would not be the same if this happened, simply because 007 has always been James Bond, and because there is no point in changing a character that has been around for a long time.
2. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
If Disney even THINKS about creating a sequel to this, I’m going to lose my mind! We all know by now that at this point with Star Wars, Disney is just trying to get money out of the film saga, because the Sequel Trilogy has gained quite a bit of money, but the movies have been NOTHING compared to the Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy. They also dropped Palpatine out of literally NOWHERE. If they tried to continue the Sequel Trilogy, Disney would just ruin Star Wars, Even though they could have done a LOT more with the ending. At least The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, and the other series are doing really well. We will also be getting the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series soon!
3. Free Guy (2021)
As soon as I came out of the theater, I knew this movie was one of the best of the best! The lighthearted, easygoing plot accompanied by lots of amazing humor really sets an amazing tone for probably one of the best movies of all time. The only downside is “Fantasy” by Mariah Carey being stuck in my head constantly! If a sequel to this was made, it would not have the same charm as this original, and would just not be worth it.
Movies that Needed a Sequel, But Now Have One
1. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (Sequel to Venom) (2021)
I am just going to say, this is one of the BEST Marvel movies of all time! The action is absolutely AMAZING, and this is also a huge example of some of the best CGI (computer-generated imagery) in a movie as well! The post-credit scene also adds a bit of a wow factor to this awesome movie!
2. Spider-Man: No Way Home (Sequel to Spider-Man) (2021)
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING: The Marvel fandom could not have asked for a more perfect movie! The fact that the best Spider-Man villains, along with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men returning shows how Marvel really knows what they are doing when it comes to making a good movie! And if you have seen the new trailer for Doctor Strange 2, it is most likely going to be a lot bigger and better than what was actually seen in No Way Home.
