Derek Jeter is the kind of player you get only every so often. Not only was he a good playmaker, but his hitting was outstanding, leaving nobody, who is a fan of the MLB, without at least an idea of who he was.

Derek Jeter was born in Pequannock Township, New Jersey on June 26, 1974. Jeter started playing baseball at the young age of five and stuck with it all throughout his life. All of the hard work paid off, and in 1992 he was drafted as a first-round pick to the New York Yankees.

Jeter played shortstop for the Yankees and his all-time batting average was 0.310. The Yankees paid him a salary of 12 million USD (United States currency)a season to play on their team.

Jeter played with the New York Yankees all throughout his 20-year MLB career. During those 20 years, he helped the Yankees win five championships. He also won the World Series MVP in 2000, 14 MLB All-Star selections, 5 Gold Glove Awards, and 5 Silver Slugger Awards. He was also a member of the 3,000+ hits club.

Unfortunately, Jeter couldn’t play forever and ended up retiring in 2014. Now he is working as a chief executive officer for the Miami Marlins. Many fans miss watching him play, but they did enjoy the time they had watching him.
