Pizza has been a favorite for many people over the years. People often think as pizza being a comfort food because it is bad for you and most comfort foods usually are really bad for you.

Facts about pizza that you probably don’t know. 

  • In the United States around 350 slices of pizza is eaten each second
  • Pizza wasn’t very popular until after WWII
  • The first documentation of the word “pizza” is from 997 C.E.
  • The world record for the world’s largest pizza is 122 feet, 8 inches in diameter
  • In 2013, Domino’s made DVDs that smelled like pizza
  • NASA funded and tested a 3D  printer that can make pizza for astronauts
  • 215.7 million pounds of pepperoni are consumed every year in the U.S. just from pizza
  • 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. each year
  •  October is national pizza month in the United States
  • The average American eats more than 23 pounds of pizza per year
  • Peyton Manning owned 31 Papa John’s franchises
