Music was first really introduced to America in the 17th century, according to my research. From just tapping your pencil on a desk, to creating lyrics that will go along to a beat, music is made in a lot of ways. At this time, music is divided into different genres, some, for example, are rock, metal, pop, hip-hop, country, or EDM. Music at this time is also sang by many different artists or played on different instruments and turned into an acoustic version. Either way, acoustic or not, many songs can still be used to sing along to. If you have a favorite musical artist, band, or genre, then you may listen to music more often than those who don’t. What about you, do you have a favorite from each of these three topics?

Music Artists

In this world, there are many different music artists. Some may sing with different styles, or different tones of voice according to the genre of music they usually sing. Some may sing pop, hip-hop, rap, metal, ect. You may have a favorite music artist, and this could be for different reasons. Most common reasons for somebody having a favorite music artist is because of the type of music they produce. If your favorite genre is metal, then your favorite song artist may specialize with metal music. But if rap is what you enjoy listening to in your free time, your favorite artist most likely is associated. This can go on with any genre of music.

Musical Bands

In this world, there are many different musical bands. Some consist of all females, some consist of all males, and some consist of both. But, some of us, as teenagers, may call the ones that consist of all males as “boy bands.” With bands, there isn’t one specific genre. One band could sing rock songs, and another could sing pop songs. Similar reasoning for somebody’s favorite band is used for somebody’s favorite song artist, so you may most likely enjoy listening to the type of music they produce.

Music Genres

There are many different music genres, some popular ones being Pop, Hip-hop, Country, Rap, EDM, and Rock.

EDM

First of all, what does EDM stand for? EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music. How is EDM music produced? The two most important software components of electronic music production are the DAW and virtual instruments. The DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is used for recording, editing, and producing audio files. Some of the most popular DAWs for EDM music are Ableton Live, Logic Pro, or FL Studio. 

Rock

Rock music is listened to by many of the people in earth’s population. How is rock music structured? A typical song structure includes a verse, chorus, and bridge in the following arrangement: intro, verse – chorus – verse – chorus – bridge – chorus – outro. This is known as ABABCB structure, were A is the verse, B is the chorus, and C is the bridge.

Rap

Rapping (or rhyming, spitting, or emceeing/MCing) is a musical form of vocal delivery that incorporates “rhyme, rhythmic speech, and street vernacular” which is performed or chanted in a variety of ways, usually over a backing beat or musical accompaniment. How is rap music structured? Nearly every rap song consists of three basic parts: intros, hooks (choruses), and verses. Verses are often of equal length, such as 16 bars each. However, they can also have different lengths. After the first verse comes the hook, which is the most memorable (and often most important) part of many Hip-hop songs.

Country

Country music is a genre of music that is widely enjoyed. It is most commonly listened to by people who live or have lived in the country. What are the elements of Country music? Country music often consists of ballads and dance tunes with generally simple forms, folk lyrics, and harmonies mostly accompanied by string instruments such as banjos, electric and acoustic guitars, steel guitars (such as pedal steels and dobros), and fiddles as well as harmonicas.

Hip-hop

Hip-hop is another world-known genre of music, in which was first introduced to America in the late 1970s. What are the five elements of Hip-hop? The five elements of hip-hop are emceeing, deejaying, breakin’, graff, and beatboxing. What makes a song Hip-hop? Typically, Hip-hop music consists of rhythmic lyrics making use of techniques like assonance, alliteration, and rhyme. The rapper is accompanied by an instrumental track, usually referred to as a “beat”, performed by a DJ, created by a producer, or one or more instrumentalists.

Pop

Pop is yet another world-popular music genre, first introduced to America in the 1920s. What are the five elements of pop music? While there are many different approaches to describing the building blocks of music, we often break music down into five basic elements: melody, texture, rhythm, form, and harmony. How is a pop song structured? Pop song structure refers to the structural form of a pop song. It is based on the fitting together of different musical sections. The pop song structure can take varying forms but will typically involve a verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus structure.
