If you are a first time pet owner, you may need some tips and tricks to take proper care of your new best friend!
Always keep fresh water available. A dog can’t survive unless it has a good hydration source. Of course you don’t have to give him water every single hour of the day. Just keep a schedule. You can give him water in the mornings and after school or work. They don’t necessarily need that much water, for they may not drink all of it in the time in between. Once a day or every two days won’t harm your dog at all!
You Are The Master
You MUST train your dog to keep it safe, and you don’t want your dog destroying things or jumping on people. Nobody wants their dog causing destruction while they are out of the house. You can either train them yourself or let a dog trainer do it. Places like Petco and PetSmart offer pet-training services for a cost.
All indoor cats need a litter box, which should be placed in a quiet, accessible location. Keep in mind that cats won’t use a messy, smelly litter box, so scoop solid wastes out of the box at least once a day. Dump everything, wash with a mild detergent and refill the litter box at least once a week; you can do this less frequently if using clumping litter. Don’t use ammonia or deodorants/scents, especially lemon, when cleaning the litter box. If your cat will not use a litter box, consult with your veterinarian. Sometimes refusal to use a litter box is based on a medical condition that requires treatment.
