February 11, 2020
We are a little behind in our features, so we are doing some catching up this month! The Teacher of the Month for January went to Mr. Joey Wilkerson! I interviewed him back in December, and here is what he said.
Q: Which school and university did you go to?
A: I went to Macon County High School and Cumberland University.
Q: How many kids do you have?
A: I have 3 kids.
Q: What do you do during your free time?
A: I watch football, I babysit my grand kids, and I spend time with family.
Q: What do you think is your biggest accomplishment?
A: Marrying my wife Monica, who works here at MCJH as well, having my kids, and getting a college degree.
Q: Which superhero would you be and why?
A: I would be Flash, because I have always been a slow runner and would love to know how it would be to be a speedster.
Q: Tell me about your teaching career. What all grades and subjects have you taught?
A: I have taught every subject except P.E. and 6, 7, 8 grades.
Q: What was your favorite subject to teach?
A: My favorite subject to teach was health and safety.
Q: Is there a special memory or funny teaching moment that sticks out to you?
A: The funny moment I remember is when Mr. Bransford caught me coming out of Mrs. Reid’s ceiling closet. It’s a long story. I will tell ya sometime.
