Macon County Junior High Girls Basketball Preview
December 9, 2019
Football season is over, which means its basketball time. This is a basketball interview from Coach Mike Prock. We wanted to ask him a few questions about his team.
Q: Do you have a coaching philosophy? If so, what is it?
A: My philosophy is to put players in the position to play to their strengths, utilize the best ball handlers, best shooters, best defensive players, and best rebounders to their abilities, and to play the right way while still having a positive effect on the kids for life.
Q: What will be your team’s strength this season?
A: My team’s strength this year will be scoring inside. Another strength of our team is that we can push the ball up court in transition and get quick baskets.
Q: What do your players need to really improve on to be successful?
A: My team needs to improve on making good decisions such as taking care of the basketball and passing the basketball.
Q: How do you keep your team motivated?
A: I keep my team motivated by telling them to be the best they can be and play hard because the next team is trying to beat you.
Q: Can you give us a preview of your varsity team or key players who will be instrumental to the success of the team this season?
A: Dallas Caldwell, Natalie Green, Grace Deckert, Kyra N. Gregory, Karly Ramsey, Laityn Kirby, and Kaydence Walrond will see most of the playing time. They need to improve each and every day to be the best player they can be. If we play hard, smart, and together will have a successful season.
Q: Anything you would to add to your basketball preview that we haven’t covered already?
A: I’m trying to get the players to develop their skills and be ready for high school basketball.
Q: Anything you would like to quote specifically or say to the student body/public?
A: I just want to encourage the students to attend our games. We have four more home games and would love the support.
